A bespoke luxury eco-villa set on a 5-acre hillside estate in Austin's Hill Country. The Solis Estate combines contemporary minimalist architecture with passive solar design principles, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass walls, cantilevered infinity pool, and a living green roof that seamlessly integrates the structure into the natural landscape.
The Challenge
The hillside terrain with a 15% grade required extensive site engineering to create stable building platforms while preserving the mature live oak trees that the client wished to retain. The fully off-grid energy requirement added complexity to the mechanical and electrical systems.
The Solution & Execution
We designed a terraced foundation system that follows the natural contours of the land, minimizing cut-and-fill operations and preserving 95% of existing vegetation.
